"II began my PT with Chris when my wedding was approaching fast. I was doing 2-3 classes a week at the gym, although doing no weights (why would I, I’m a girl!), but was nowhere near the shape I wanted to be. With 12 weeks to go, I started my training with Chris. The raw material was not promising; 2 dress sizes and 2 stone from where I wanted to get to, with shameful arms. For 12 weeks, Chris taught me the importance of both fitness and diet. He explained the importance of keeping my metabolism firing for longer; having the right foods at the right times, ensuring these are burnt as fuel during exercise, rather than stored as fat. There is no secret, easy answer to losing weight; but there is evidently proven science behind Chris’ advice, which certainly got results. The training was mixed up each week, with a huge variety of different exercises and equipment to keep me motivated. There is no doubt the training was tough at times. Many times I stared at Chris with a mixture of both horror and hate as he explained in his calm, ‘no-drama’ manner, what I was to encounter in respect of kettle bells, sandbags and the rower- all three in quick succession; nice. Each step of the way, Chris was there with motivation, encouragement, praise and humour. He really knows his stuff, and it certainly achieves results. Stepping into the weights area proved to be a revelation. I was a bit reluctant at first, as I didn’t want to end up looking like him! From being proud of my pathetic attempts with a 3kg weight in each hand, I progressed to a point where my arms, back and shoulders were transformed. I think it's vital for you to know the following information about this Business as I think alot of people who were like me struggling to loose weight could benefit of knowing what this gym offers and what makes it different to other establishments. I have been a member at quite a few gyms in the past and left due to the lack of support and the general atmosphere and the selection of fitness classes which resulted me in going less and less till I was paying for a gym membership I wasn't using which is pointless but I know many people do the same thing. The initial weigh-in and measurement taking was done in typical Fitness4All manne; friendly, comfortable but professional. Chris' attitude from the beginning and throughout was encouraging and supportive, he was always happy to answer questions or give advice. As somebody who has tried every diet going I found Chris' dietary guidelines easy to understand and simple to implement into a busy work and social lifestyle. As you get to eat little and often, and choose your meals, I never felt too hungry or deprived! Chris stressed that 90% is as good as 100% which allowed enough leeway to achieve results without being so strict that failiure is inevitable, like some diet plans. The guidelines were based on sound scientific reasoning, and Chris offered adivce on supplements and vitamins that might help with weight loss. Chris' personal training sessions were tough! The sessions again fitted in with my diary and were pitched at my individual strengths and weaknesses. Chris emphasised good technique and varied exercises and intensity as the weeks went on. I have definitely seen an improvement in strength and toning over the past 3 weeks. Chris seems to be able to push you without being the bad guy! The staff are approachable, friendly, and will go out of their way to help you. The facilities are top rate, with all the usual equipment, as well as some more unusual equipment that is at the forefront of fitness and science (otherwise known as new ways to make your body use muscles you never realised you had!). However, leaving the friendly staff, great atmosphere and high quality equipment aside, it is the classes that make this gym stand out. With a number of different sessions throughout the week, covering a range of activities, there are physical pursuits available for everyone from the novice to the expert - all in one class.
